EXTENSION OF PERIOD TO COMPLY WITH CENTRAL COUNTERPARTY REQUIREMENTS
In terms of the Financial Markets Act, 19 of 2012 (‘the FMA’), a clearing house performing the functions of a central counterparty (‘CCP’) must be licensed as a CCP and must comply with the requirements set out in the FMA and the regulations by 1 January 2022.
The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (‘FSCA’) has, however, extended the deadline for compliance for a further period of 12 months to 1 January 2023.
